Looking for personal defense training? We offer lots of classes, from beginner level to advanced, with and without firearms. In the central Oklahoma area, we primarily teach at BDC Gun Room in Shawnee, OK. The courses we offer regularly are listed below. We also travel and teach in other states through our training company, Awareness Defense Training.

Appendix Carry Skills

This is a comprehensive overview of the often misunderstood “appendix inside-the-waistband” (AIWB) mode of concealed carry. We’ll teach you what AIWB is, what it isn’t, and how to get the most out of it, safely. This is an 8-hour live-fire and dry-fire class that dives deep into all the fundamentals and some of the most overlooked aspects of carrying AIWB. Topics will include:

  • Safety
  • Holster and gun selection
  • How to wear the holster; Clothing concerns
  • How to safely re-holster (make sure the operator is safe)
  • Efficient and fast draw strokefrom various positions
  • Two-handed and one-handed reloads

Students will need…

  • Range gear, Ear and Eye protection
  • AIWB holster and OWB strong side holster (students who struggle with the AIWB will be asked to switch to OWB)
  • Reliable semi auto handgun
  • 350 rounds of ammo
  • 3 spare mags and one mag pouch
  • Water/Beverages to stay hydrated
  • Chair, sun screen, etc.

Oklahoma SDA (Self Defense Act) Handgun Class

This is the State of Oklahoma’s training for individuals to apply for their handgun carry permit. This class will cover basic shooting fundamentals for the handgun, firearm safety, nomenclature, and the Oklahoma Law concerning carrying a handgun. This class is sufficient for gun owners who want basic knowledge and training, even if they don’t necessarily plan to apply for an SDA permit or carry regularly. Those who wish to apply for the permit must be at least 21 years old.

Students will need…

  • Safe, reliable, functioning handgun
  • 50 rounds of Ammunition
  • Eye and Ear Protection
